Finally Pakistan, Saudi Arabia and Türkiye Sign Joint Defence Agreement Following Friday Prayers in Makkah

Amid ongoing security challenges and rising regional tensions in the Middle East, Pakistan, Saudi Arabia, and Türkiye have signed a historic joint defence agreement. According to Pakistan's Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the agreement was signed in Makkah following Friday prayers.

The Pakistani Foreign Ministry stated that one of the agreement's key provisions is that an armed attack against any one of the three countries will be considered an attack against all three, triggering a coordinated collective response.

The agreement is expected to significantly deepen defence and security cooperation among the three nations. It is also anticipated to expand collaboration in joint military exercises, intelligence sharing, defence technology, and broader regional security coordination.

Prior to the signing ceremony, Pakistan's Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and Chief of Army Staff Field Marshal Asim Munir visited Saudi Arabia and performed the Umrah pilgrimage in Makkah. At the same time, Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan arrived in Saudi Arabia for high-level talks with Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman.

The defence agreement comes at a time when the Middle East's security environment has become increasingly volatile following the United States and Israel's military operations against Iran. In recent months, Saudi Arabia has faced repeated attacks by Iran-backed Houthi forces in Yemen and Shia armed groups in Iraq.

According to analysts, the new defence agreement could have significant implications for the Middle East's security architecture and strategic balance. However, detailed information regarding the implementation of the agreement, the structure of the joint military framework, and future operational plans has not yet been officially disclosed.
