US President Donald Trump has issued a stern warning that Iran will pay an ultimate price if it fails to reach an agreement to end the ongoing conflict and the joint US-Israeli military operations. In a statement on Monday, he made it clear that if negotiations do not succeed swiftly, Iran's critical energy and civilian infrastructure will be completely destroyed.
Trump’s Explosive Remarks on Truth Social In an explosive post on his social media platform, Truth Social, Trump wrote:
"If for any reason a deal is not shortly reached, and if the Hormuz Strait is not immediately 'Open for Business,' we will conclude our lovely 'stay' in Iran by blowing up and completely obliterating all of their Electric Generating Plants, Oil Wells, and Kharg Island."
The President further added that this list could also include Iran's vital water desalination plants.
Diplomatic Efforts and Mediation Despite these severe warnings, Trump noted that "serious discussions" are currently underway with a "new and more reasonable" Iranian regime. However, Tehran stated on Monday that no direct meetings have taken place with the United States. Regional countries such as Pakistan, Türkiye, and Egypt are currently serving as intermediaries. Notably, Pakistan's Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar has signaled that Islamabad is prepared to host these historic talks.
Background of the Conflict It is worth noting that on February 28, a combined air offensive launched by the US and Israel against Iran resulted in the deaths of approximately 1,340 high-ranking Iranian officials, including the then-Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei. In retaliation, Tehran launched drone and missile strikes targeting Israel, Jordan, Iraq, and US military bases in Gulf countries. These retaliatory strikes have caused global market instability and significant disruptions to international aviation.
According to global political analysts, Trump's latest threat is primarily a "Maximum Pressure" tactic designed to force Iran into submission at the negotiating table. The world now waits to see if a peace treaty will be signed in the coming days or if the Middle East will witness a catastrophic devastation.
