Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian has called for an end to the ongoing war in West Asia. He said the world recognizes Iran’s “victory” and that ending the war while Iran remains in a position of “strength and dignity” would be more advantageous for Tehran.
According to Iran’s ISNA, Pezeshkian made the remarks during a meeting with doctors, saying that prolonging the war could weaken Iran’s position. Therefore, he said, reaching an agreement and ending the conflict under the current circumstances would be preferable.
Pezeshkian claimed that the world recognizes Iran’s “victory.” He also accused the United States of attacking Iranian schools, hospitals and infrastructure, describing such actions as violations of international law.
Tehran-Washington Tensions Over Sanctions
In a previous statement, Iran’s Foreign Ministry strongly criticized Washington’s sanctions policy. Tehran has described the sanctions as “economic terrorism” and “crimes against humanity.”
Meanwhile, US Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent announced plans to further increase economic pressure on Iran. Washington is pursuing a strategy of intensifying sanctions and economic pressure in an effort to bring changes to Iran’s policies.
China: Sanctions Will Not Solve the Crisis
China has criticized the US approach. Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesperson Lin Jian said that sanctions and economic pressure will not resolve the crisis.
China has urged all sides to take responsible measures and pursue a political and diplomatic solution to the ongoing crisis.
