Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian Expresses Condolences to Nepal, Offers Humanitarian Assistance After Devastating Floods and Landslides

Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian has expressed deep condolences over the loss of hundreds of lives in the devastating floods and landslides in Nepal and offered Iran’s readiness to provide humanitarian assistance to the disaster-hit country.
In a message addressed to Nepalese President Ram Chandra Paudel, Pezeshkian conveyed his sympathy to the Nepalese government, people and the families of those killed in the disaster. He also said Iran was prepared to provide assistance to those affected, if needed.
According to the latest information released by authorities, at least 330 people have been killed and more than 1,300 remain missing following the floods and landslides in Nepal. Foreign nationals and pilgrims are among those reported missing, while hundreds of people have been displaced across parts of the Himalayan region.
Infrastructure Damage Complicates Rescue Efforts
Nepali officials say extensive infrastructure damage has made search and rescue operations more difficult.
The disaster has destroyed dozens of bridges and damaged nearly 40 kilometres of roads, creating major challenges for rescue teams attempting to reach remote and affected areas with emergency supplies and medical assistance.
Disruptions to communications in several areas have also complicated efforts to locate missing people and assess the full scale of the damage.
Iranian Red Crescent Offers Relief and Medical Teams
The Iranian Red Crescent Society has expressed condolences to the families of victims of the devastating floods and offered to dispatch relief and medical teams to affected areas.
Iran has also indicated its willingness to provide emergency humanitarian assistance, medical support and other forms of aid in coordination with the Nepalese authorities.
Growing Need for International Assistance
The scale of the disaster has increased the need for food, medical care, temporary shelter and other emergency assistance for displaced communities.
Damage to roads and bridges, particularly in mountainous and remote areas, has made the coordination of local and international relief efforts increasingly important.
Iran’s offer of humanitarian assistance comes as Nepal continues to deal with heavy loss of life, large numbers of missing people, displacement and extensive infrastructure damage.
Search and rescue operations remain underway, with authorities prioritizing the search for missing people, treatment of the injured and the delivery of emergency assistance to affected communities.
