Islamabad Anti-Terrorism Court Orders Former Pakistani Prime Minister Imran Khan to Be Produced at Next Hearing

The Islamabad Anti-Terrorism Court (ATC) has ordered that Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) founder and former Prime Minister Imran Khan, who is currently in prison, be produced at the next hearing in the Federal Judicial Complex attack case. The court said he may be brought before the court in person or appear through a video link.
The order was issued on Monday, October 5, during a hearing presided over by ATC Judge Tahir Abbas Sipra. The case was registered at Ramna Police Station against Imran Khan and other PTI leaders and workers in connection with clashes and violence at the Federal Judicial Complex in March 2023.

The case stems from an incident on March 18, 2023, when Imran Khan went to the Judicial Complex to attend a hearing in the Toshakhana case. A large number of PTI supporters gathered at the complex. Islamabad police alleged that the supporters removed security barricades, attempted to enter the complex, damaged property at the entrance and clashed with police personnel. Police also alleged that a police post was set on fire. PTI, however, claimed that police had fired at Imran Khan’s vehicle.
During Monday’s hearing, the court also took action against several other PTI leaders. Former federal ministers Farrukh Habib, Hammad Azhar and Murad Saeed, along with former senator Shibli Faraz, were declared proclaimed offenders after failing to appear before the court. The court also ordered that details of their assets be submitted.
In addition, the court issued non-bailable arrest warrants for former Punjab Assembly Deputy Speaker Wasiq Qayyum and PTI leader Hassan Khan Niazi.
The next hearing in the case has been scheduled for November 5, 2026. The order to produce Imran Khan at that hearing is now the next significant legal step in the proceedings.
Imran Khan has been in prison since August 2023 and continues to face multiple cases and legal proceedings. The court’s direction regarding his appearance in the Judicial Complex attack case has added new significance to the ongoing political and legal developments surrounding the former prime minister in Pakistan.
