Pakistan’s Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif Expresses Condolences to Nepal, Announces Emergency Humanitarian Assistance

Pakistan’s Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif has expressed deep condolences over the heavy loss of life and widespread destruction caused by devastating flash floods and landslides in Nepal. He also announced that Pakistan will provide emergency humanitarian and relief assistance to the disaster-hit country.

On Friday afternoon, Sharif held a telephone conversation with Nepalese Prime Minister Balendra Shah and conveyed his heartfelt condolences over the casualties, destruction and extensive damage caused by the recent natural disaster.

Pakistan Expresses Full Solidarity With Nepal

During the telephone call, Sharif expressed the full solidarity of the Government and people of Pakistan with the Nepalese leadership and people.

He assured Prime Minister Shah that Pakistan was ready to provide whatever assistance Nepal might require during the difficult period. Islamabad also emphasized its support for ongoing search, rescue and relief operations.

Emergency Relief Assistance From Pakistan

Sharif confirmed that Pakistan would send emergency relief assistance to support Nepal’s ongoing response efforts.

The floods and landslides have damaged roads and other critical infrastructure in several areas, increasing the need for food, medicines, shelter and other emergency supplies. Pakistan’s assistance is expected to contribute to humanitarian relief efforts for affected communities.

Balendra Shah Thanks Pakistan

Nepalese Prime Minister Balendra Shah thanked Sharif for the telephone call, his expression of solidarity and Pakistan’s support.

He also conveyed his appreciation for Pakistan’s offer to provide humanitarian assistance as Nepal continues to respond to the disaster.

Rescue and Relief Operations Continue

Search and rescue operations remain underway across disaster-affected areas of Nepal. Damage to roads and other infrastructure has made access to some remote mountainous areas more difficult for emergency teams.

Authorities are prioritizing the search for missing people, medical treatment for the injured and the delivery of food, medicines, shelter and other essential assistance.

Pakistan’s decision to provide emergency relief represents another important example of regional humanitarian cooperation as Nepal confronts the devastating consequences of the floods and landslides.
