President Masoud Pezeshkian Pledges Full Support for Domestic Solar Panel Manufacturers to Meet Iran’s Power Demand and Strengthen Energy Security

Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian has pledged full government support for domestic solar panel manufacturers and investors in the renewable energy sector, saying there will be no restrictions on supporting investment and expanding domestic production.
Pezeshkian made the remarks on Tuesday while inaugurating two solar power plants with a combined capacity of 95 megawatts in Tehran Province.
Thanking domestic and foreign engineers and contractors involved in solar energy projects, Pezeshkian said efforts to expand the use of clean and renewable energy could be further developed and potentially lead to new records.
Iran Targets 30,000 MW of Renewable Power Within Two Years
Pezeshkian said his administration is working toward generating 30,000 megawatts of electricity from clean and renewable sources within the next two years.
He also stressed the importance of maintaining uninterrupted electricity supplies to industrial facilities, saying reliable power is essential to keeping production and industrial activity running.
Combining Solar Energy With Agriculture
Alongside expanding renewable energy, Pezeshkian called for more efficient use of available land and water resources.
He urged coordination with university researchers and agricultural experts to explore the possibility of growing medicinal plants around solar power facilities and reusing water used to clean solar panels.
600 MW of New Solar Projects
Iranian Energy Minister Abbas Aliabadi said the president had simultaneously ordered the launch of 600 megawatts of solar-generated electricity projects across the country.
According to Aliabadi, recent progress in Iran’s solar energy sector has been driven by the president’s guidance and recommendations.
$1.7 Billion Allocated for Solar Technology
Central Bank Governor Abdolnaser Hemmati said $1.7 billion has so far been allocated to advance solar energy technology.
He added that there are no restrictions on providing either domestic or foreign currency to support Iranian solar panel manufacturers.
Tehran’s Solar Capacity Rises Twentyfold
Tehran Governor Mohammad-Sadeq Motamedian said the president’s emphasis on expanding solar power and other new energy sources has encouraged greater public participation and investment.
According to Motamedian, Tehran had only 23 megawatts of solar power capacity two years before the Pezeshkian administration took office. The figure has now reached 400 megawatts, representing an almost 20-fold increase.
Amid Iran’s growing electricity demand and pressure on industrial production and energy security, the government’s renewable-energy push signals a major effort to rapidly expand the country’s solar power sector.
