Fresh attention has emerged in the White House surrounding Natalie Harp, a close aide to US President Donald Trump. Various reports and comments from Trump biographers have claimed that First Lady Melania Trump is unhappy with Harp’s close relationship with the president. However, there is no independently confirmed evidence of a direct “power struggle” between the two women.
The 35-year-old Harp currently serves as Trump’s Special Assistant and Executive Assistant. She has been dubbed Trump’s “human printer” because she reportedly provides the president with news reports, documents and social media information throughout the day.
How Did Harp Become Close to Trump?
Born in California, Harp came to Trump’s attention in 2019 after speaking on Fox News about how legislation signed by Trump had helped her during her cancer treatment. The following year, she was invited to speak at the Republican National Convention.
She later worked as a host for One America News Network. In 2022, she joined Trump’s team and gradually became one of his closest aides.
Why Is Natalie Harp Back in the Spotlight?
Harp recently drew attention after reportedly accompanying Trump during a plane switch following the NATO summit in Turkey. According to reports, Trump and a small group of close associates moved to another aircraft amid security concerns, with Harp among those accompanying him.
New York Times journalist Maggie Haberman has described Harp as a kind of “comfort blanket” for Trump. Various reports have also said that she assists with Trump’s Truth Social activities.
Harp’s close relationship with Trump has also drawn criticism. US Senator Jon Ossoff has questioned Trump’s travel arrangements and the use of government resources. Harp’s estranged brother, Preston Harp, has reportedly described their relationship as “unhealthy.” Meanwhile, one person told CNN that their relationship was more like that of a “father and daughter.”
Claims of Tensions with Melania Trump
Trump biographer Michael Wolff has claimed that Harp’s constant presence has contributed to Melania Trump being reluctant to appear publicly with her husband on some occasions. According to Wolff, Melania’s appearances were sometimes limited when Harp was present.
Melania’s relatively limited public appearances have also fueled speculation. However, neither the White House nor the individuals involved have publicly confirmed any direct personal or political conflict between Harp and Melania Trump.
