Tehran Developing New Missiles to Target US Military Weaknesses, Says Iranian Navy Deputy Commander Admiral Bamani

Tehran, Iran | October 13, 2026 | The Global Journal

Iran has developed new weapons designed to target weaknesses in the United States military, while Tehran is also adopting new methods to counter the military strategies of its adversaries. Rear Admiral Bamani, deputy commander of the Iranian Army’s Navy, made the claims, according to Iran’s Mehr News Agency.

According to Mehr News Agency, Bamani said in an interview that Iran’s armed forces were improving their military capabilities by learning from the experiences of recent conflicts. He also claimed that the Iranian Army’s Navy had developed new weapons by taking into account the weaknesses and limitations of its adversaries.

However, the military official did not disclose details about the types, range or technical capabilities of the new weapons, or whether they had already been deployed.

‘Threats Against Iran Are Nothing New’

Bamani said Iran had faced various threats since the beginning of the Islamic Revolution, adding that these threats had sometimes been issued covertly and at other times openly.

According to his remarks, years of military pressure and conflict had helped Iran analyse its adversaries’ strategies and improve its defensive and offensive capabilities.

Claim That US Forces Have Moved Farther From Iran’s Maritime Borders

Bamani claimed that opposing military forces had moved significantly farther away from Iran’s maritime borders following Iranian retaliatory strikes. According to him, US forces are currently positioned farther from Iran’s maritime borders than at any time since the Iran–Iraq War.

Referring to conflicts on June 13 and February 28, he said the Iranian Army’s Navy and the Navy of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) had inflicted significant blows on US forces on various occasions. He further claimed that the opposing side had sometimes acknowledged these strikes.

However, Bamani’s statements regarding the current positions of US forces, the extent of any damage and the military impact of Iran’s retaliatory strikes could not be independently verified.

Iran Developing Political and Economic Strategies to Counter Naval Blockade

The Iranian Navy deputy commander also addressed the naval blockade imposed on Iran. He said the Iranian government was pursuing various political and economic strategies to deal with the situation.

He did not provide further details about these measures.

The remarks come amid continuing regional tensions over Iran’s military capabilities, maritime security and the consequences of its confrontation with the United States.
