U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio explains reasons behind military action against Iran

Washington: U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio has explained the reasons behind the ongoing military operation against Iran. He stated that the operation is primarily a defensive measure aimed at destroying Iran’s missile and drone capabilities and preventing potential future threats.

According to Rubio, intelligence reports indicated a possible imminent attack from Iran targeting U.S. interests and personnel. In that context, the military action was launched as a preemptive measure.

He further emphasized that the United States does not seek regime change in Iran; rather, its objective is to weaken Iran’s military capabilities—particularly its ballistic missile program and naval power—which could pose threats to international security and global energy transportation.

Rubio also mentioned that the U.S. is capable of achieving these objectives without deploying ground troops and that there are plans to conclude the operation swiftly.

The ongoing conflict has heightened tensions in the Middle East and is also impacting the global energy market, according to international analysts.
