Iranian authorities have executed two men convicted of killing four police officers during anti-government protests in January this year. The executions of Amirhossein Maleki and Amirhossein Ebrahimi, in the central Iranian city of Isfahan, were reported by the country's semi-official Tasnim News Agency.
According to the report, the executions were carried out after Iran's Supreme Court upheld the death sentences against the two defendants following the completion of the judicial proceedings.

Tasnim reported that on January 8, Maleki and Ebrahimi joined a group of protesters and took part in violent attacks during the anti-government demonstrations. They were reportedly armed with firearms, incendiary materials and other weapons. They allegedly attacked civilians and members of the security forces.
The news agency further reported that four unarmed police officers were killed in the attacks. Several public and private properties were also vandalized and set on fire.
Maleki and Ebrahimi were subsequently convicted in connection with the incidents and sentenced to death. Their sentences were later upheld by Iran's Supreme Court, paving the way for the executions.
The violence and loss of life surrounding Iran's anti-government protests have continued to draw attention to the country's political and security situation. The executions were reported by Tasnim News Agency.
