Iran’s Supreme Leader Mojtaba Khamenei Warns US and Israel, Orders Armed Forces to Maintain Maximum Military Readiness

Tehran, Iran | October 31, 2026 | The Global Journal

Iran’s Supreme Leader and Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces, Ayatollah Seyyed Mojtaba Khamenei, has issued a direct warning to the United States and Israel, ordering Iran’s armed forces to maintain the highest level of military readiness. He instructed military commanders to respond immediately and effectively to any hostile threat, including through retaliatory measures without geographical limitations, according to Iranian state media.

During a high-level meeting with senior military commanders, Mojtaba Khamenei warned that if foreign adversaries launch new military strikes or terrorist operations, Iran’s armed forces and people will determine when and how the conflict ends.

He also stressed the importance of maintaining what he described as “smart combat readiness” to ensure maximum deterrence against potential threats. His directive comes amid continuing tensions between Tehran, Washington and Tel Aviv.

Orders Target Database Update Covering US and Israeli Assets

During the meeting, Mojtaba Khamenei instructed Iran’s military planners to update the country’s national target database. According to the reported directive, the database should include various tangible and intangible assets belonging to the United States and Israel within the reach of Iran’s military capabilities.

He also ordered officials to strengthen military intelligence infrastructure, modernize indigenous military doctrines and tactical frameworks, and expand the use of advanced technologies in defence equipment.

The supreme leader further emphasized the need to ensure uninterrupted logistical, equipment and welfare support for military personnel.

Emphasis on Coordinated Resistance with Regional Allies

During the briefing, Mojtaba Khamenei described domestic public support as a fundamental pillar of Iran’s national deterrence against external threats.

He praised regional allied groups associated with the “Axis of Resistance.” He also described the “Unity of Arenas” doctrine, which emphasizes coordination across multiple conflict fronts, as an important factor shaping the political and security architecture of West Asia.

The remarks indicate that Tehran considers coordination with regional allies an important element of its broader defence strategy, alongside its domestic military capabilities.

Military Readiness Along the Persian Gulf and Strait of Hormuz

During the meeting, senior Iranian military officials presented the supreme leader with updates on the country’s defence preparations and operational readiness.

Those attending included Major General Abdollahi, Chief of the General Staff of the Armed Forces; Major General Hatami, Commander-in-Chief of the Iranian Army; and Major General Vahidi, Commander-in-Chief of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC).

They briefed Khamenei on troop readiness in the Persian Gulf, the Strait of Hormuz, the Sea of Oman, and along Iran’s northwestern and southeastern borders.

The military chiefs also reported a substantial increase in domestic production of reconnaissance equipment, support systems and combat munitions.

Mojtaba Khamenei Expresses Satisfaction with Defence Preparations

At the conclusion of the meeting, Mojtaba Khamenei expressed satisfaction with Iran’s current defence preparations. He also commended personnel serving in the different branches of the armed forces, police, Basij forces and the Ministry of Defence.

The directive, reported by Iranian state media, has drawn attention to Tehran’s military preparedness and its stated policy of responding to potential attacks. In particular, the instruction to include US and Israeli assets in the target database, alongside the warning of responses without geographical limitations, carries significance for regional security.

A New Message Amid Rising Regional Tensions

Mojtaba Khamenei’s remarks can be understood as a strong warning from Tehran against any potential resumption of military confrontation. However, independently verified details about the implementation of the directive, the specific targets included in the database and any planned military action have not been made public.

Any official response from Washington or Tel Aviv, as well as further developments in Iran’s military posture, will be important in assessing the implications for regional security.
