Finally The Iran–US peace talks in Islamabad have ended without any agreement amid dispute about Hormuz, nuclear issue

The Global Journal | International Desk

The nearly 21-hour-long negotiations in Islamabad ultimately concluded without any deal. Iranian media reported that deep disagreements over the Strait of Hormuz, Iran’s nuclear program, and regional security issues prevented both sides from reaching any understanding.

According to Iran’s semi-official Tasnim News Agency, the main obstacle in the talks was the United States’ “excessive demands,” which blocked the formation of a joint framework agreement. The Iranian delegation reportedly made several new proposals and initiatives, but no progress was achieved.

Meanwhile, Pakistan, acting as a mediator, attempted from early Sunday to arrange another round of talks and exchange draft documents, but ultimately no breakthrough was reached.

Iran’s semi-official Fars News Agency reported that Iran firmly rejected US demands related to the Strait of Hormuz, its peaceful nuclear program, and the removal of nuclear materials from the country.

The report added that Washington was trying to achieve through negotiations what it had failed to achieve through war. It also claimed that the US delegation appeared to be seeking excuses to leave the negotiating table and refused to soften its position despite the deadlock.

No date or location has yet been announced for a new round of talks.

According to analysts, these talks were considered the most significant direct negotiations between Iran and the United States since 1979. Although they began in the context of a fragile two-week ceasefire, they ultimately collapsed, further deepening uncertainty in the Middle East diplomatic landscape.
