Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian Congratulates Erdogan and Turkish People on National Day, Calls for Stronger Bilateral Ties

Tehran, Iran | October 29, 2026 | The Global Journal

Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian has congratulated Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan and the Turkish people on Turkey’s National Day, calling for deeper bilateral relations based on shared political will, mutual interests, and cooperation.

In a congratulatory message sent on Thursday (October 29), Pezeshkian highlighted the longstanding historical, cultural, religious, and neighborly ties between Iran and Turkey. He described these connections as a valuable asset for both nations, saying that shared political will could help strengthen their relationship further.

Emphasis on Historical and Cultural Ties

In his message, Pezeshkian said Iran and Turkey share longstanding historical and cultural bonds. Their religious heritage and geographical proximity have also provided an important foundation for bilateral relations.

According to the Iranian president, building on these existing ties could create new opportunities for cooperation and further expand relations between the two countries. He emphasized that shared political will would play an important role in this process.

Tehran Regards Turkey as a Strategic Partner

Pezeshkian noted that the Islamic Republic of Iran has consistently emphasized maintaining and expanding friendly relations with Turkey. He described Turkey as a strategic partner and a valued neighbor of Iran.

Stronger diplomatic engagement and mutual cooperation could create greater opportunities for coordination on issues of common interest. Cooperation could also expand in areas such as trade, the economy, and regional diplomacy.

Call for Cooperation on Regional Stability and Security

In his congratulatory message, Pezeshkian said Tehran was ready to expand cooperation with Turkey to protect shared interests, strengthen regional stability and security, and promote prosperity for both nations.

Amid political and security challenges across the Middle East and neighboring regions, dialogue and coordination between neighboring countries can play an important role. Pezeshkian’s remarks highlighted the importance of mutual interests and joint initiatives in advancing regional peace and prosperity.

Future of Iran-Turkey Relations

Pezeshkian’s National Day message reflects Tehran’s interest in strengthening relations with Turkey. However, no detailed announcement was made regarding specific new initiatives or areas of bilateral cooperation following the message.

At the conclusion of his message, Pezeshkian wished President Erdogan good health and success, while extending his wishes for peace, prosperity, and well-being to the Turkish people.
